Hello dear readers, I truly hope you’ve been having a wonderful week so far! I am starting a renewed journey as a content creator. During this time, I find myself reflecting on our relationship with social media in our day-to-day lives. It’s completely understandable that we sometimes feel trapped in a cycle of doomscrolling. This habit can leave us feeling drained. Still, I’d like to gently remind you that scrolling through reels can also bring joy and connection. In this article, I’ll share three thoughtful ways to embrace social media. These approaches will uplift your spirits while allowing you to enjoy yourself without any guilt afterwards.

1)Using It In A Creative Way

Take a moment to set a goal before diving into the world of short videos. You may find yourself watching more intentionally. As a content creator, I’ve learned that when I seek inspiration from what I consume, it transforms my viewing experience. This mindful approach helps me select content that truly resonates with me—a treasure trove of ideas for my social media. But even if you’re not creating content, I encourage you to establish a personal goal that nurtures your joy: perhaps you’d like to watch things that bring a smile to your face, share hilarious moments with friends, or explore DIY ideas. You might even want to discover movie or book recommendations that pique your interest. By consciously choosing what to watch, you can reshape your feed to serve your needs better. Plus, you have the power to save the content that aligns with your aspirations. This allows you to say, “I’ll limit my social media time until I’ve saved five videos or posts that inspire me.”

2)Engage With People, Not By Just Likes

We are inherently social beings, and nurturing our connections with others is essential for our overall health and happiness. While nothing quite compares to genuine face-to-face interactions, we understand that this isn’t always possible. Social media can serve as a valuable tool, especially when we engage meaningfully with those we care about. Consider reaching out to someone who shares your interests by leaving a thoughtful comment or sending a direct message. You might also want to share a relatable video with a friend. Choose one thoughtfully, rather than bombarding them with countless clips. Select a video you know will resonate with both of you. Accompany it with a message explaining why it’s special.

3)No Limits

And finally, I’ve noticed many people feeling the need to delete their social media accounts. They want to escape its grasp. Others try to restrict their usage to just 5 minutes. It’s important to recognize that numerous studies indicate these methods may not lead to long-term improvement in well-being. Instead of focusing solely on time limits, embracing a thoughtful approach to social media can be much more beneficial. For instance, set an intention like “I will seek out videos that bring me joy and relaxation.” This approach can lead to a sense of peace and upliftment. It helps to alleviate the stress that often comes with imposing strict limitations.
