Dear readers, I hope you are all having a wonderful day! As I strive to create more diverse posts, I’m taking special care in choosing what to share with you each week. Today, I want to open up about the impact of social media on our ability to express ourselves authentically. We interact with social media every day, and the constant stream of lifestyle trends—like the clean girl trend, the 00s girl trend, or being the it girl—can be overwhelming. While I enjoy exploring these trends and integrating aspects into my life, I sometimes find myself questioning who I truly am and what I loved before these trends took over. Acknowledging this feeling has inspired me to connect with you on this topic and share some heartfelt tips for embracing your authentic self in our digital world.

-Part 1:Acknowledge

The first step toward meaningful change is recognizing what we are consuming. Take a moment to gently explore your social media feed, saved posts, and ideas. Is there a familiar pattern? Are there trends that resonate with you or that you’ve liked or saved? For instance, my feed is filled with inspiring clean girl aesthetic posts and enticing protein-rich recipes. But I often find myself wondering: do I truly want to increase my protein intake? Is it right for me to do so? Am I genuinely researching these ideas, or are they simply capturing my attention because they’re currently trending? I find it helpful to ask myself these compassionate questions when I encounter posts reflecting specific trends, as it allows me to be mindful of what I engage with on social media regularly.

-Part 2:Getting To Know Yourself Better 🎈

As I shared before, I lost sight of who I truly was while getting caught up in the endless trends on social media. It’s no easy journey to embrace our authentic selves, and I found the hardest part was figuring out what genuinely brings me joy. In this phase, I took time for myself—journaling and meditating, all while trying to recall the simple pleasures from my childhood. I explored various hobbies and experimented with different styles of clothing, blending in elements I loved from trends with those that might not have been popular but still made my heart smile. Through these experiences, I found a sense of happiness and a deeper connection to my inner self.

– Part 3: Having more online presence as your true self

And the last step is to ensure that we foster a diverse online presence as a community. It warms my heart when non-influencers, like friends and family, share their treasured book recommendations, favorite recipes, and all the wonderful things that bring them joy; their experiences resonate with me even more than those of traditional influencers 🙂 Seeing everyone embrace their authentic selves online inspires me to trust myself and encourages me to express my own authenticity 🙂
