Hello everyone, I sincerely hope you are all doing well! I wanted to open up a conversation about new year planning content, as it’s something I’ve been diving into to refresh and reset for 2025. While New Year’s Resolutions and goal setting often take center stage, I’ve come to realize that reflecting on 2024 deserves just as much attention. It’s truly important to take a moment to look back on the past year, to understand where we stand and how we truly feel. I know how easy it can be to get swept up in the excitement of the New Year’s momentum and feel pressured to plan a myriad of things for the coming year. However, I believe it’s equally vital to pause and really connect with our current feelings and experiences. In this post, I want to share some gentle ideas that might inspire you to reflect on your past year and help you gain clarity on your journey. I hope you find comfort and inspiration in them!

-Part 1: Journaling Prompts

Here are some journaling prompts that may help you reflect on the past year:

  • 2024 was the year that I…
  • What did I learn in 2024?
  • What worked and what didn’t work
  • What will I leave in 2024, what do I choose to release?
  • Top 10 Highlights of 2024

-Part 2: Reflecting on Achievements and Things That Did Not Work

We often find ourselves celebrating our achievements for just a day, only to allow the rush of new goals to overshadow our joy the very next day. However, it’s crucial to take the time to honor every single accomplishment throughout the year and to reflect on them as the year ends. You might feel like you haven’t achieved much, but remember, even simply getting through another year is worthy of recognition. After we take a moment to celebrate these victories, it’s important to delve deeper into what truly worked for us and what helped us achieve those milestones. And it’s equally important to ask ourselves: Did these achievements bring you joy and lead you toward a more fulfilling life? By taking the time to reflect, you can uncover the habits and actions that fostered your successes and happiness and carry them into 2025, nurturing a brighter future ahead.

-Part 3: Identifying Our Limiting Beliefs

One new activity that I’ve embraced in my 2024 yearly reset is the process of identifying my current limiting beliefs. This journey is something I’m eager to explore further, as limiting beliefs can often manifest as that critical voice in our minds that affects us, whether we acknowledge it or not. For instance, you may find yourself thinking, “I can’t speak in public,” and recognize how this can prevent you from applying for certain positions you truly desire. It’s completely understandable to feel uneasy about public speaking; many share that same anxiety. However, these limiting beliefs can cloud our ability to understand the underlying issues and hinder our personal growth. To achieve our goals, we must be willing to take risks, face failures, reflect deeply on the roots of our challenges, and use those experiences to grow. It’s important to remember that limiting beliefs can hold us back from discovering new opportunities. As part of my new practice, I’ve taken the time to reflect on the past year to identify any limiting beliefs that may have constrained me, and I’m dedicated to working through them now.
